Evaluation
The course has three problem sets that are compulsory hand–ins. Problem set 1 and 2 will not be graded but must be approved (at least 50% correct) in order to attend the exam. These two problem sets work as formative feedback and are your opportunity to get written feedback on your work. Problem set 3 will count towards the final grade with a 20% weight.
Problem set 1 is due end of week 3 of the course, and covers material from week 1 as well as crucial prerequisites.
Problem set 2 is due end of week 7 of the course, and covers material from weeks 2–6.
Problem set 3 is due mid–December (the specific date will be announced at the course start), and covers material from weeks 7–13. No feedback will be given for this problem set, only grading.
The course will end with a 4-hour written exam that tests the entire curriculum.
Ph.D students
Ph.D students are offered an alternative evaluation. Instead of attending the exam, a Ph.D student can write a 4–page report concerning the course, and how the course material is applied in their Ph.D. studies.
